Must be a high school graduate, must write and speak clearly so that written and oral instructions can be followed.
Must possess writing, typing, and computer skills with proficiency in data entry programs.
Preferred candidates will have a minimum 1 year experience coordinating a Foster Program.
Knowledge:
Preferred will have a basic knowledge of animal health care, behavior, and knowledge of dog and cat breeds and their behavioral tendencies.
Skills:
Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to maintain an upbeat, positive attitude even in stressful situations.
Must be able to work well with others and deal with conflict in a professional and constructive manner.
Must be detail oriented and possess organizational skills and the ability to monitor self-work and report to Manager if assistance is necessary to complete various tasks.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work weekends as assigned and meet the physical requirements of the job.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license.
Must Supervise/Assist volunteer roles in areas relative to your job description.
Job Function/
Summary:
Perform job duties in a positive, effective manner.
Willingly assist public in all aspect of Shelby Humane's programs.
Share information to enhance the public's knowledge of animal welfare as well as maintain knowledge of the Humane Society's mission and programs.
Recruit and train foster volunteers Serve as primary contact for foster volunteers Facilitate movement of shelter animals into foster care Respond to foster requests from shelter staff in a timely manner Monitor health and behavior of animals in foster care and report any important findings/issues to Medical Manager or Director of Operations as appropriate Coordinate/administer booster vaccines, medications, recheck, and drop off times with foster volunteers Ensure foster animals' follow-up vaccinations, dewormer, flea/heartworm prevention, and other treatments as required are given on time Coordinate with Medical Staff to ensure foster animals receive appropriate and timely medical checks and treatments for basic issues Coordinate with Medical Staff for foster animals to receive more advanced medical checks and treatments Counsel/demonstrate the management or solution for basic behavioral issues (with a focus on positive reinforcement techniques) Keep all foster materials and programs up to date, and provide appropriate orientation materials, manuals, and handouts to all foster volunteers Follow up with fosters regularly to ensure their satisfaction and compliance with our foster programs and services Keep all staff up to date on changes to foster programs; provide staff training for foster program procedures as needed; ensure that staff are providing accurate information to foster volunteers Uphold the shelter's values and mission statement during interactions with the public and other staff Track and report foster data monthly Ensure foster animal locations and foster volunteer information is accurate in the shelter database.
Manage the foster database using Microsoft Excel and ShelterLuv Must be willing to supervise/assist any volunteer roles relative to your job description Other tasks as assigned Working Environment Possible exposure to infectious organisms, animal waste, allergens, chemical materials requiring OSHA Material Safety Data sheets and potential hostile animals.
Noise level is generally loud.
Physical Demands Individual will be required to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds throughout a normal workday.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
